1. What is it going to look like?
Our rocket is going to be a basic scratch rocket. We are going to spray paint our rocket to make it look really cool and customized. We are going to try to make it very light so that it will fly very good when the launch comes, We are going to put some fins on the rocket but we aren't sure how many yet, either 3 or 4.
2. Can we put our ideas on paper?
a. We created the body out of brown paper that we wrapped multiple times. We glued each layer so that it will stick together good. We are hoping that we can make it long and skinny, but we are still not sure.
b. My partner and I found some balsa wood that we are going to use to make our nosecone. We are going to make it 3 inches in height. We are going to cut it and then sand it down so that our nosecone is smooth and so that it is symmetrical and so it fits perfectly inside our body of the rocket.
c. For our fins, we are using balsa wood again, we are going to make them in the shape of a parallelogram so that it is easy to attach and so that we can let it stand up when we need it to. We still are not sure if we are going to make three or four fins for our rocket. We are going to paint those too so it is not the color of the wood.
d.For the engine housing we are going to attach a mount inside the body so the the ejection charge can also shoot out the parachute on the way down.
e. The parachute is just one of those parachutes that you get from a toy. We are going to attach two of them together so the parachute is bigger and so that it can deploy easier.
3. How are we going to make this happen?
Me and my partner Jesus have most of the materials already. All we have to do is construct the rocket and use our time wisely so we don't end up running behind and having to use our time to complete our project. I think we have enough time to complete this, I am very confident.
